PostSubject: Shadow House   05/05/09, 03:36 am

This roleplay is a spin off of the movies, comics, and animated series of the X-Men. For this reason, there isn't much information listed. If you have any questions, let me know.
:]

Welcome to the Institution. A house for young adults with extraordinary gifts.
In other words...a home for teenage mutants.
As a mutant, trouble controlling your gifts and blending into society isn't unexpected. The home supplies boarding and professors who specialize in the science behind the 'x gene' and tactics in combat and power control. The true purpose of the home is secret, as are the gifts of the teenagers who dwell there. Society isn't ready for your kind.

You will assume the role of one of the teenagers in the institute, unless given permission to take on a different roll.

Rules:
1: No one assumes a teacher role, or a human role without permission.
2: You are the age of a high schooler.
3. No character can be indestructible. You're still training teenagers.
4. Everyone is responsible for their own characters, and no one elses, unless that characters owner gives them permission, or the character is an unassumed role in the story. (Ex: Professors, Citizens, Teachers..ect.)
5. Enjoy. :]

Ivory closed her eyes as the strings ran against each other, creating a beautiful and clear sound throughout the room. It was heavenly to her, very cleansing. She ran them back and forth slowly, creating a smooth melody that flowed seemingly without effort.

She treasured moments like this in the noisy home she shared with the other mutants. It was very rare to find peace here.

It was only after she got to the climax of the beautiful piece that she felt something burning. Opening her eyes for a glance at the violin in her hands, she sighed as she realized the wood was singed and black where her hands had been.

"Thats the third one this month..." she muttered to herself with a mingled sense of loss and apprehension. She wasn't sure how the professor would feel about supplying her with yet another violin. She was quickly distracted by this thought when some of the younger dwellers of the mansion burst through the study doors, firing their 'gifts' back and forth at each other and giggling. Sometimes yelling in protest when they were hit.

She raised an eyebrow before quickly dodging a wave of energy that missed her by less than an inch, and collided instead with a painting at her side.

Zach was passing in the hallway with his hood up, he had his hand held up at chest level which he controlled two paper planes in with his powers, he made them weave and flip and on occasion a barrel-roll or two while he walked. He had fun flying them in the crowd as he flew them around the kids that were in the hall. Some shared Zach a weird look while others laughed, over all he didn't care what reaction he got all he cared about was to pay as less attention to the world around him as possible while playing with his two toys.

"Thankyou sir. I'll be on my best behavior don't you worry."

Jason left the professor's office feeling pretty relieved. He had heard about this home and couldn't wait to relax in his own room. It had been a terrible weekend. He had to go back to school tomorrow whether he liked it or not. Not just for him, but for his brother, James. It had been nearly 2 months since the accident and now, Jason felt safe after a long time. Being with people just like him is just what he needed. Then maybe he could control these powers a little better.

Jason found his room, 407, and went inside. It was plain, but still, I would definetely do and he was very grateful. "Ah...Ah... A-CHOO!" Jason closed his eyes for a split second soon opening them to see the wall dented in front of him. He sighed remind himself he would have to fix that later. Wind was hard to avoid especially since it was allergy season.

After unpacking, Jason decided he would look around before dinner time. He walked out his room closing the door tight. He walked around the building keeping his usual calm expression as teens passed by giving him second or even third glances.

"Hey look-"
"A new kid?? Haven't had one of those in a while"
"He seems shy and-"
"Heh yeah forget about him he'll-"

All these conversations and more were heard by Jason as he walked with his head low. He walked past a door soon and realized that inside, teens, mutants, were throwing their gifts around all over the place. "Hmph, teens will be teens I guess." As he began to walk away some of the kids stopped and stared at him whispering among themselves.

"How did I get to be so popular??"

Ivy held the wounded instrument to her chest as she sneaked out of the study with a glance over her shoulder, and with barely a foot in the corridor, she ran into something hard, falling backwards as the already injured violin hit the floor with a loud thump and a clatter.

She blinked in shock, her emerald eyes going first to the sad instrument, and then for the reason behind its damage.

"Oh."

The world was all she managed to say when she saw the unfamiliar face. She realized without having to peek into his head that he was new here. He looked a little lost and maybe even nervous. She pinned that on the hushed whispering going on behind her. Turning her head to the young teens, she gave a look that quickly brought that to a stop. After all, she was blaming them for a little more than the chattering, and she made that clear with a little glance at the broken painting.

Looking back to the new boy, she gave him a little smile. "Way to introduce yourself."

Jason blinked a few times and shook his head. "Im soo sorry! Are you alright??" Jason held out a hand to see if she needed help. It was the least he could do. He had to stop looking down when he walked. "That was totally my fault. I have to look where I'm going."

Jason suddenly noticed that the talking from the other teens had stopped. When did that happen??

Reaching up, she took his hand. She didnt have be a mind reader to know he would feel the warmth of her skin. It wasn't a burning kind of heat, unless of course she happened to lose her temper. This warmth was more comforting. Or so she had heard.

She gave a slight laugh, a little amused by his nervousness and stood to her feet. "Don't worry about it." she replied, her tone bright, "It was an accident."

She reached down to the floor, reclaiming her lost, and damaged treasure. It only reminded her of the sure scolding she was going to receive from the professor.

She pushed the thought away, hugging it to her chest and turning her attention back to the boy. "You must be new here."

Jason gave a small smile and nodded lightly. "Yeah, I just moved in today. And I just wanted o have a look around." He let go of her hand and then looked down at her violin. Why was she keeping it close to her? He was curious and asked. "Um, is there something wrong with your violin.

Biting her lip, she averted her eyes, looking down the wooden piece in her arms. "Uh.." was all she could utter at first. She wasn't sure if she wanted this boys first impression of her to be of burnt violin.

"I had a...accident." she said, offering him a sheepish little smile. She tugged the violin away from her chest and held it by its neck behind herself, shrugging her shoulders a little to play off innocence.

"I see...." he answered as it seemed pretty obvious that she wasn't gonna say anything about so he continued. It was probably her gift that messed up her guitar. But he kept silent. "Oh! I forgot. My name is Jason Zono...or JayJay if you want to call me that"

He smiled reassuring. "Whats your name??"

She smiled, partly in releif that the subject was changed. "Call me Ivy."

With slightly curious eyes, she looked him over. Everything about him seemed to resemble earth to her. The brown hair, tanned skin, brown eyes. It all fit in perfectly with each other. She was kind of surprised that she hadn't found him sitting on a tree stump, petting a deer and eating carrots. He seemed to belong to nature in a strange way.

She wondered if he felt that bond as she did to the sun and stars.

"I'll show you around," she piped up, interrupting her own thoughts with the words as she turned, starting down the hallway without really waiting to see if he would follow.

Jason blinked. That was awefully kind of her. He barely knew Ivy and yet she was willing to show him around. "Um sure thanks" He followed her without hesitating.

(Sorry xP Crazy tired)

(Ohh. Im sorry. : /)

She smiled in response and simply walked along the many beautiful corridors, pointing out important rooms and places and even matching a few names with faces.

Ivy kept her pace slow, giving him time to take in the surroundings. She knew for a first timer, it could all be overwhelming, even though her first look at the estate had been many many years ago.

Pausing in her tour, she let her feet continue, but brought her voice to a new question. "So, what brought you here?" She was genuinely curious. Many teens seemed a little reluctant to leave their families, even for this beautiful sanctuary. With a little feeling of loss, she wondered if maybe her opinion on that was biased.

Jason frowned lightly and looked down. He knew someone would ask eventually but he hoped it wouldn't be this soon. He told himself not to tell if ever asked, but...Ivy. Ivy didn't seem so bad a person. She was the only one who actually greeted him and even took him on a tour. He couldn't tell her everything but he could tell her something.

"I'm here because I have to help my little brother..."

She noticed the change on his face quickly. It was difficult not to open his mind and let the details spill, but that was something the Professor had taught her long ago: Respect. Along with something he was still teaching her...Control.

"Your little brother?"
She let her curiosity show nevertheless; if he wanted to share this, she was open ear. If he chose not to do so, that would be that.

Her emerald eyes shifted to his face filled with patience. Her heart ached as she saw a tiny hint of pain there. In a way, Ivy regretted asking. Maybe the simple question would be too much.

"You don't have to tell me..." her voice tagged softly.

Michael sprinted through the woods. He could hear the other mutants close behind him. Michael looked around him but could find nothing to use to his advantage. Then he turned and sprinted at a tree. He climbed to the top as swiftly and nimbly as he could.

The other mutants closed in on where he was. Michael waited for the right time. One mutant inched slowly toward the tree.

"C'mon, c'mon." Michael muttered. The mutant stepped at the spot Michael was waiting for. He kicked off the tree and back-flipped. Michael's hand turned into a blade and he stabbed it into the mutant below. Michael turned lunged at the other. After Michael took care of the last one, his arm returned to normal. Michael cracked his neck as the woods disappeared and the Danger Room returned to normal.

Jason shook his head a little. He didn't want to go alot further but he could say one more thing.

"Yes, to take care of him in the later future...the way a brother should" He looked down at the floor as his hands balled to a fist in him pants.

He didn't go farther than that. He couldn't recollect those memories as they were too painful. His shining light brown eyes gave away such a pain. Of course he didn't know it. He remained silent thinking about his past as it all rushed into him filling him with sadness.

She bit down on her lip as she studied him in the silent corridor. It was such an intense silence, one you could cut with a knife, like butter.

She raked her fingers through her hair awkwardly, unsure of what to say when the pain hit.

The pains in her center back had been occuring recently, and with growing frequency. They were always sudden and without warning. A mystery the Professor had failed to explain, though she suspected he knew the answer.

Ivy released the violin she still held in her hands, a gasp escaping from her petal lips as the pain struck with incredible force. She reached out her hand, bracing herself against the wall to prevent her face from meeting the floor. The wall singed slightly where she touched it, and the air around her gained heat steadily. She was losing control.

Jason didn't realize what was going on until she had almost fell. He reached for hand to help her without hestiation. He was surprised to find that her hand was heating up, and extemely fast. But he didn't let up. He held onto her body keeping her upright. "Ivy?? IVY!?" Someone fortunately sw them and went to get some help.

Jason slowly laid her body onto the floor. What could he do?? Obviously her gift was fire, but he didn't have much experience with that. Her body began to heat up more and soon started to singe the floor. He didn't know how to help. Everyone around was watching with horror but unable to do anything. Probably they were scared of her heated body which would probably soon become like fire. He wondered why he didn't seen as affected. His powers were nature and wind so he couldn't un-.........

Wait wind! Of course. It would cool down her body at least. Without thinking, Jason extended his hands over her body and began to move them in random patterns. He could feel the heat rising and moved his hands faster urging the wind to come out. "Cmon, damnit! Cmon!"

Soon a large breeze surged through his hands and fell down on her body. He shaped and formed the wind to keep in the heat and kept her from heating up more. He even decreased her heated body somewhat. However in the process, he felt the heat he took from her surge through him as well. He began to feel dizzy and light-headed but didn't let up one bit.

She twitched on the floor awkwardly, not from the heat, but from the blast of pain that seemed to be tearing at her skin. Her back arched, and she was barely aware of the surrounding crowd as she let out a shrill scream.

With the scream, came fire. It carried from her mouth almost as a dragon would breath flames, narrowly missing Jason. Her hands, clutching the floor, cooled down only slightly with the efforts of his wind, that also aided in fanning the fire.
